Whatever definition you have when it comes to being successful, it never fails to cross your mind seeing yourself achieving your career goals, having financial freedom, doing the things you like and enjoying every moment. Reaching your ultimate goals is probably the closest definition you might get. Every goals are created individually, people’s view on success varies depending on their own goals, needs and situation in life.

1. Mental Toughness

The ability to pursue goals and continue life even on tough times refers to mental toughness. Seeing challenges as opportunity, taking control of the situation, being confident and committed in completing what they started are some of the signs that you have develop your mental toughness. Strong habits of a successful person are not giving up so easily, they learn from their failures and they always keep trying even when things seem impossible.

2. Live with Purpose

Sometimes we find ourselves thinking about our past and wondering about the future. It is because we are so detached with our present. Doing same activity every day or by simply having a job that we don’t even like. Things like these can’t be avoided because we have bills and other expenses to fill. Living your life with purpose will somehow ease the feeling of going nowhere. Just keep in mind that no one really knows what the future may bring, but knowing your purpose in life will get you wherever you want to be.

3. Identify your Passions

Define what success means to you, so you know what to do in order to achieve it. You may have difficulty thinking of the things you want to achieve in your life. Your passions are the things that you love doing: like singing, play instruments, doing your favorite sports, drawing and a lot more. Those are just the artistic side of passion, some people like doing charity work. Helping the community be a better place or by simply volunteering on animal rescue program, because by doing these things makes them happy.

4. Make a list of your Goals

Enumerate your short- term and long-term goals. Write the things you should do to achieve them. May it be relationship goals, things you like to experience or personal goal to make yourself better. Set these goals the smart ways. Your goals should be specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound. If your goals are huge like buying a new car, a house or travel around the world, break it down under smaller steps like looking for a side hustle to save more money.

5. Stick to your Commitments

Setting you goals but not doing anything about it will get you nowhere. Your commitment to your goal is important. Your word and what you say reflects you. When you say you do something for someone, do it. Writing your commitments to your goals and put them in a place where you can see it always. Evaluate your goals every now and then to make sure that things you do is moving you in right direction. Strengthen your willpower to avoid distractions and temptations.

6. Be Educated

Being educated is not just about going to school and having a degree, it’s also learning different knowledge and skills. You can learn speaking any language or study animation to help you step up your career. Learn the things that interests you most.

7. Manage your Finances

Save money every month and put it in your savings bank account. Always keep track of your expenses and learn to manage it to ensure financial stability when the time comes. Do not overspend on something that you don’t really need. If you have extra amount of money you can try to invest it, but invest cautiously. Better be safe than sorry.

8. Time Management

When you are having trouble organizing your time schedule throughout the day, you can use a planner to keep you on track. You can also save your to-do-list on your phone and set a reminders alarm. Unable to do the things you are supposed to do today can stress you up. Being organized and have a better time management will keep you focus and motivated.

9. Enjoy the Present Moment

Don’t dwell on the things you do or did not do in the past or daydreaming about your future. They are purely part of your imaginations and you are actually missing out your present moment. Learn from your past and live your presents doing things that makes you happy to create a better future. Learn to appreciate even the small event in your life, like enjoying a walk with your dog or by simply by spending time and drinking coffee with you family or friends.

10. Stop Comparing

Many of us measure success by comparing our life to other people success. They have their own story of success. They might have been thru somethings we are not aware of, like us they have their own ups and downs. Focus on bettering your life and start up your own story of success.

11. Count your Blessings

Learn to value your blessings and do not focus on the things you don’t have. No matter how successful your life will be, you are not exempt on feeling the unhappiness from time to time. Don’t think on material items you can have; be thankful for your good health, spend quality time with your love ones and cherish every moment.

12. Surround yourself with Positive People

Enjoy the company of people you admire. Befriends them not because they are generous or successful, but because you happy having them. Learn with each other, achieving things together especially if you have common goals in life. Surround yourself with people who makes you feel motivated and confident. Your co- worker, mentors, friends and family can offer you an assistance and advice when you experience doubt in achieving your goals.

13. Set your Boundaries

Always be kind but don’t accept abuse from anyone. Limit spending time with people who always make you feel bad about anything. But don’t stop being a caring and kind person you use to be, just be careful in identifying relationships that are stressing you out and not helping in achieving your goals. Burnout happens when you are exposed to a lot of stress. It will reduce your motivation and makes it harder for you to focus on your goal. If it’s your goal that is stressing you, try to reassess your goal and develop new strategies, or look for something that will reduce your stress.
