Subsequent to responding to certain inquiries, she later goes to her private lodge with her pet feline Alfie so she can start to compose the fifth book. She goes through the night composing the entire thing, thinking she has finished it before going to bed.
The next day, Elly is reached by her mom Ruth (Catherine O'Hara), who went the entire evening reading the manuscript Elly sent her. Ruth says that the book is good, but she doesn't like the "copout" ending. Elly then begins attempting to write another new chapter in an attempt to provide the book better sense of finality. She imagines a few situations to give Argylle a superior completion, yet she winds up stalling out mentally.
Elly chooses to take a train with Alfie to visit Ruth in Chicago when she proposes to assist Elly with completing the book. On the train, she is approached by a man named Aiden Wilde (Sam Rockwell). He pretends to be a fan of Elly’s before informing her there are people on the train who are targeting her. Minutes after, a "fan" stops by with a blade masked as a pen, compelling Aiden to act quickly and begin battling professional killers while Elly attempts to hide away, however she pictures Argylle himself in Aiden's place. Elly recognizes Carlos (Tomas Paredes), one of the assassins, from the book reading as a alleged fan. Aiden then, at that point, takes Elly to the furthest limit of the train where he shoots the entryways off and parachutes with her (and Alfie) out of the train, where she passes out midair.
When Elly awakens, Aiden has trimmed his hair and uncovers he took her to a lodge. He informs her that the professional killers come from an evil association called The Division, drove by Director Ritter (Bryan Cranston). They believe that Elly's books anticipate specific occasions in their profession, and they have previously read manuscript for Book Five and are waiting on her to write the final chapter. Ritter is shown executing Rob Delaney, his Deputy Director, for not apprehending Elly and regaining access to a Master File that can reveal all Division agents. In addition, Aiden serves as the model for Wyatt, whereas Keira was a real person who reportedly passed away.
Aiden brings Elly (and Alfie) alongside him to find a informant named Bakunin (Stanley Morgan), who planned to deliver the Master File to him. Aiden convince Elly to begin writing the next chapter in the hopes of locating Bakunin. Ritter and his men can listen in on Elly's writing because some fans record her on their phones.
They are taken to an apartment that is said to belong to Bakunin. Aiden discovers a book containing information written by Bakunin in an opening beneath the floorboards, which is all they find. Soon, Division assassins start making their way toward the building, leading to Elly and Aiden hiding under the floorboards. Aiden emerges from beneath after a while to begin killing the assassins. Before more start coming, the two advance toward the rooftop and leap off onto a dumpster underneath.

Aiden shoots her and knocks Ritter out prior to getting a stunned Elly out, tragically abandoning Alfie.
Aiden accompanies Elly to meet his boss, Alfred "Alfie" Solomon (Samuel L. Jackson). Here, Elly learns "the genuine Specialist Argylle" is, in all honesty… Elly herself. Her books were not expectations, but instead recollections of her previous existence as a covert operative. Her genuine name is Rachel Kylle (Specialist R. Kylle), and she lost her memory after a mission turned out badly. Ritter and Vogler got to Rachel before Aiden could, and they acted like her folks, causing her to accept she was dependably a hopeful author so she can report her considerations down and ultimately cut her down. They were expecting the furthest down the line book to uncover the area of the Master file. Elly is puzzled at the disclosure until Aiden draws in her in battle, and she can use her abilities from memory to kill him.

The assailant is Keira, who endure her gunfire wound the same way Aiden endure his, since it turns out Keira was the person who proposed the theory to Elly. The three (and Alfie) send the remainder of the Master File and pass on the ship to explode, killing Vogler and any other person left alive. Elly and Aiden likewise at last kiss.
Elly completes Book Five and returns to her authorship, providing Argylle with a satisfying happy ending. She returns to the book shop for another reading, and a fan asks her what has been going on with the characters after the story. Elly says that, “hypothetically”, Solomon got genuinely amazing recognitions from the CIA for uncovering The Division, while Keira went to ascend in the tech field, and Elly and Aiden have all the earmarks of being together. Before Elly closes things, another fan who looks much like a nerdier version of Elly’s image of Argylle stands to ask a question, but also suggesting Elly might have questions for him, leaving her shocked.
During the credits, a flashback to 20 years earlier is shown. A youthful Argylle (Louis Partridge) enters a bar and is by all accounts working with the Kingsman office (they exist in a similar universe). Text then, at that point, seems saying "Argylle: Book One", as a film transformation of Elly's most memorable novel is supposed to come soon.
